  1. My PGA pro taught me, if you can't putt it, chip it with a 9 iron, and if you can't chip it, lob it with at least a 60-61 degree wedge. Always use a putting stroke and have your hands forward of the ball when striking it. It has worked very well for me.

  2. Putt when you can.  Chip when you can't putt.  Pitch when you can't chip.  Lob when you can't pitch.  Why?  Because a poor putt gets closer than a poor chip.  A poor chip gets closer than a poor pitch.  A poor pitch gets closer than a poor lob.
