RIT SportsZone Hockey Central: RIT vs Holy Cross 1-30-16

>>Cut off by Powell. Out of the zone this’ll go. Pretty nice penalty kill here
for the Tigers as in 2, 1 back to even strength is Josh
Mitchell in his own control Holy Cross 0 for 1 with
a man advantage. Christian Short, coming out!
Oh he missed it! Count that one for Holy Cross. A greasy goal and it’s 1 nothing.>>No doubt about it
greasy. Looked like Short was gonna
smother it with his glove, and what did it go
right underneath the glove? There you see that the puck’s
kinda bouncin’ around, choppin’ and someone looked like
they got a stick on it there in front. See, if somebody
from Holy Cross — Oh yeah>>That’s Sommer.>>Right between Short.>>Valenzuela swings it down.
Mitchell cross-ice feed, scores! That’s Brady Norrish with his
second goal this weekend and the powerplay,
we’re tied at 1.>>That’s called a click.
That’s how you execute a powerplay opportunity.
Like everybody touched the puck. That was incredible. And there’s the guy
we’ve highlighted, the pregame,
Mitchell, just continues to find open teammates. That’s his fifteenth point in January.
>>It’s amazing. I mean look at this pass.
There’s not much room there. It’s called threading it. On the far side Mikowski,
to Miller, Lubanski, Mikowski delivering a hit
ahead right in front of the corner crew, there’s Miller, can’t get to it. That
goes off the official. Collett can’t get it out.
The blast, and scores! Madhouse!
Tigers lead 2-1.>>Tigers able to keep the puck
in their zone. That’s one Barrefato I think he would
like to have back to see if there’s any
kind of traffic out in front. Abt just winds up
right over the stick.>>Oh yeah, I think Miller is kind of, maybe, distracting him a little bit,
John, what do you think?>>Let’s see if we–
Miller is kinda coming in, I can’t tell maybe Barrefato
took his eye off, because of Miller–>>It’s awesome.>>And just talk a little bit about
the Arena. It’s beautiful here.>>Uh, this is my first day here,
we played an alumni game at 3:00 o’ clock, We were just walking around,
you know in between, and it’s unbelievable what these
guys get. Uh, you know, they should feel
very happy of what they got. It’s a first-class facility.
I’d say top three in all the NCAA.>>Thank you very much, enjoy
your night. Back over to you guys.>>Alright, thank you to Scott Knowles,
and by the way, we’re tied at 2. Castan Sommer. John, how does this happen,
a two on none?>>Just a breakdown
defensively for the Tigers, and it looked like Short had
it stopped, but it found the back of the net. Just a breakdown you get a
2 on none. There was nobody
back for the Tigers. It will just get it by
Christian Short.>>A good one here tonight,
2-2.>>It contested, but the
Tigers won that first period, and Holy Cross picked up
their play. They’ve done a great job.>>Barrett shoots and scores! Oh Christian Short
had a piece of it, That’s Mike Barrett with his
12th goal of the season, to lead the Crusaders, and
Holy Cross takes the lead.>>I thought that’d be one shot Christian’d
like to have back, that’s for sure. But again, look at Barrett able to bring
that puck a little bit closer, look like Norrish couldn’t get his
stick down, to block it, and–>>Right into the chest,
Berrafato.>>Norrish now races ahead,
sends it in, trying to chase up his own rebound! How about that!>>This overplayed the puck, Berrafato,
look at this, Let me just dump
and I’ll chase. And he just missed it.
Missed up with the stick. That’s a mistake
on Berrafato. Not that it was coming
off the boards. Spinning or anything or rolling. Not even much velocity on it. Just misplayed the puck. Close to the vesture. [inaudible]>>McMullen. Backhand.
Right in front and at the net! No it’s waved off. Light never went on, big time save. We should take a
look at this one John, what do you think?>>McMullen with the backhand,
Berrafato with the pad save, Until it was here for the
cleanup of the Tigers. Comes in here, ducks with the backhand. That’s close.>>If he gets just a little
bit of lift on that. On their own end,
Powell has it knocked away, Mulcahy coming in,
Mulcahy fires, Oh, what a big save! Christian Short making that
look easy.>>This took a weird bounce,
Holy Cross put the pressure on, kind of bumped off the puck there,
it looked like it was Norrish, it’s a good looking shot, better
saved by Christian Short with the glove.>>Cameron now to take the draw
against Ferrill, 1:11 remaining in regulation. Beckman walking in,
shoots, and another save, and another glove save,
by Christian Short.>>That lane was open there.
It really closed down the shooting lane. It kinda just found an Alley
and boom! He had a good look. Another good save by Short.>>Got to win the draw here first. Valenzuela, Norrish, Brown, Kerins on the ice.>>So, Dave Berard is going to
send out Vidal and Ferrill this line. Wayne Wilson will counter with Kerins,
Valenzuela and Mitchell. Sends it back, here’s Brady Norrish,
pushing it ahead. Posing seconds
here in this game. Right in front! And Berrafato’s lost his stick. Can the Tigers get an
opportunity? No stick for Berrafato. Brady Norrish. Ten seconds remaining. Tied up in front,
Kerins calling for it, Five seconds remaining, Tigers, the blast, and Berrafato makes the
save traffic in front. Four more seconds remaining
the whistle blows.>>The save without his stick.
The last twenty some seconds. Amazing.
Just the fact that RIT was able to keep the puck
in zone. That’s a good save. Ended up with
someone’s stick.>>There you go. The way that would’ve been,
the finish.>>So what are we looking at here?
the officials going over. They can’t look at the clock
John. So, um just because the —
we’ll take a look here at the overhead.>>Let’s see the
overhead here. Berrafato does,
was that the stick? There’s the shot,
Mitchell saved his move,>>He’s not interferring
>>But close.>>Okay.>>They will give
him one second. And how they figured that out,
I don’t know but, one second they will give.>>It benefits the
Tigers, that’s for sure.>>And there it is. Another tie here
tonight for the Tigers. playing good hockey nothing to
be ashamed about.>>Get two of a possible
four points for the weekend. For both teams, I think — I think it’s huge for Holy Cross to come
here and get a couple of points. That was thrilling there,
at the end. Well played hockey
game tonight, really all weekend,
pretty much clean.>>3-3 our final score,
tonight, our postgame show from The Gene Polisseni
Center coming up next. This is RIT SportsZone.
