Inside Titleist: Golf Ball Testing at Manchester Lane

Our company has always believed in improving. Every day, every process, every product. This is the Manchester Lane Testing Facility I’m Rich Daprato and I’ve been
testing golf balls at Titleist for over 20 years. Testing is an important part of R&D to create new and improved golf balls. And we are constantly trying to improve
our testing process, get better, learn more. Exactly how do golf balls react
when they come into greens? The angles of descent, spin rates, speed? To truly understand these, we needed a large and completely flat green. It didn’t exist, so we built one. And to be able to test with precise consistency on short game shots, we built our own short game robot called “Spider”. It can hit the same wedge shot over and over. To improve means we need to innovate,
invent, or build from scratch. This core value has always
been a part of Titleist golf balls. It’s what makes us different. It’s what makes Titleist the #1 Ball in Golf.
