Golf Sand Game Tips : Opening the Golf Club Face

Okay, so let’s say that’s my shot. So let’s
say I hit a long iron and the ball rolled into the sand trap so it’s not stuck in the
sand, it’s doesn’t have a bad lie. So this shot, what I’m going to do is I’m going to
open the club face because I want to get underneath the ball as much as I can and I want to really
come underneath it and get these grooves on the club, giving the ball some spin because
I want it to come out of here and hit the green and stop. So I’m going to open my stance,
which we’ve covered and then I’m going to open the club face. So instead of a neutral
or closed face, I’m going to open the face. When I open the face that much I’ve got to
aim to the left of my target otherwise with this open face the ball is going to go to
my right and then I’ll be in trouble that I don’t want to be in. So I’ve got to open
the stance now to go along with the open face. So this is a way of getting more loft on the
ball and really getting spin on it. So now I got a good foundation and I just take a
good old big swing here because it’s a big sand trap. That’s a perfect shot for what
I want to do. So the ball had a lot of loft on it and I got a lot of under spin on it
so when it hit the green it really, it rolled a little bit then it checked, it kind of stopped.
So that way I can aim at a target and if I get it anywhere in that area the ball is going
to stop. So it will be a pretty good shot, I’ll have a good chance to make the putt.
