Colorado vs. UCLA Recap | Colorado Women’s Volleyball | BuffSports Live

The Colorado Women’s Volleyball team played
another back to back here at the Coors Events Center, last night playing against 16th ranked
USC, and tonight against 12th ranked UCLA. The Buffs beat the Trojans 3 sets to nothing,
and Frankie Shebby led the Buffs with 12 kills. Tonight the results weren’t as good for the
Buffs, as they lost to UCLA 3 sets to 2, with UCLA taking the final 3 points in the fifth
set. After the game, Head Coach Jesse Mahoney said
the Buffs played well enough to win, but couldn’t quite close the game out. I thought we played great volleyball, and
I think they played great volleyball as well. Um, somebody had to win, I wish it was us,
um, but if we play like that, we’re going to be fine in the second half. And if we get better, we’re gonna be good
going into the NCAA tournament. Tonight, great individual performances out
of the buffs, Naghede Abu had 12 kills and 7 blocks, and Alexa Smith had a new career
high with 27 kills. Here’s what Alexa Smith had to say after the
game. I’m so honored to play the role that I do
on this team, but I owe it to all of them for putting me in that position, especially
the coaches, setting me up in that way. So, uh, I mean I wish the game turned a different
way, but I’m honored to play the role that I do. Colorado starts out the second half of their
season by heading out to Oregon, to play Oregon and Oregon State next Friday and Saturday. But the Buffs couldn’t get the win today,
losing to 12th ranked UCLA right here at Coors. For BuffSports Live, I’m Vinay Simlot, back
to you.
